It’s time for some color and for me to try out some of the new products I got a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been looking around for a cream blush as well as a bright matte lipstick and decided to see what NYX Cosmetics had for me.

First up…

NYX Matte Lipstick in “Indie Flick”
Price tag: $6.99

I love the color of this lipstick. It’s like a blood orange and it’s very pigmented. I strongly suggest exfoliating your lips to prep for a smooth surface, because matte lipsticks show every line and flake on the lips if you don’t. Although the lipstick has a matte finish, it didn’t leave my lips feeling dry, which is definitely a good thing.

Gripe: Be careful with layering this lipstick. If you layer on too much, the lipstick makes that weird colored ring along the inside of your lips. Blotting with a tissue is key 🙂

If you don’t care for the matte finish, add a soft orange gloss on top for some shine. I used the juicy Estee Lauder Pure Color gloss in “Electric Coral”, $22.50.
**note: It’s not listed on the site, so try “Blazing Coral” as an alternative.

Hey, it makes your teeth look whiter too 😉

Next up…

NYX Rouge Cream Blush in “Orange”
Price tag: $6.75

Orangecreamblush. Yes it looks and sounds intimidating, but be daring and just give it a shot!

I layered on the NYX rouge cream blush about three times to get the color I wanted on my cheeks. I used my fingers to apply and a combination of blending with my fingertips and a sponge. The color is gorg when placed on the apples of the cheeks, and I love that it has a build-able coverage. Here’s the final result below 🙂
