When was the last time you took a day or weekend to yourself? We all need to take time to reflect, relax, and reinvest in our personal health and well being, reconnecting with our minds, body, and soul.

This past weekend I took time off to myself. I wasn’t necessarily focused on checking off tasks on my to-do list or catching up on business or emails. I sat around and did nothing, I thought and reflected about my personal happiness and gave gratitude to all the things I’m thankful for, I caught up with friends in other cities over hour long conversations and laughed until my stomach hurt, I called my family to see how they were doing, gave myself some at-home spa treatments, and created a new bucket list (more on that later).

I don’t know about you, but at times I can feel out of sync in this fast paced world. This world where we are all connected to each other instantaneously, constantly checking in to see what others are doing and updating them by the minute with what we’re doing. Our heads stay down and our phones are permanently glued to our hands so we don’t miss a thing that occurs throughout the day. The thing is, we fail to recognize that we are so consumed in everything and everyone else but ourselves. Why is that? Why is living vicariously through others lives so much more appealing than creating a life of our own?

It is so important for your mental health to bring it back home and do what’s best for you. To feed the life cravings that are yearning to be explored from within. When’s the last time you taught yourself something new or took a class to pick up a fun hobby? When’s the last time you fed your soul? Think about it.

A friend and I were discussing future travel plans after reminding ourselves that there’s so much of the world we haven’t seen! The other day I watching a video on Instagram of a guy who visited Africa and while eating breakfast on the back patio, two elephants just strolled by in their natural habitat. How cool is that? Not too many of us can say that we had coffee and pancakes over witnessing giraffes and elephants in their natural habitat right in our own backyard (well really, their backyard lol). The world is so beautiful and has so much to offer. I know I want to explore every piece of it while I’m still here and able to.

This got me thinking, so I whipped out my notebook and created a new bucket list of things I desire to do. I also decided not to constrain myself with a specific time frame and jotted down, “just do it”, as a reminder that I don’t always have to wait on someone to join me to do these things. That’s often how you miss out on amazing experiences and opportunities … because you have no one to do them with.

I’m encouraging myself and you, to be bold in life and feed your soul more often. Disconnect and really enjoy life for the beautiful, simple things it has to offer you, and accept it all with open arms. Nothing is impossible, the universe is just waiting on you to take the first step.

A few things on my bucket list:

1. Ride a camel

2. Take a surf lesson

3. Go to Dubai- first class

4. Learn Spanish (I’ve already gotten started on this one thanks to a friend who bought me a beginner Spanish book for my birthday)

5. Blow glass

6. Buy a Suetsai painting

7. Take a flying lesson

8. Dye my hair pink or blue

9. Learn how to DJ

10. Visit Santorini Greece

There’s no limit to your bucket list, let your mind run wild, and live your own life! No one can tell me what I can’t do and you shouldn’t let anyone tell you what you can’t do either. They’re just scared, you aren’t, remember that. Give your soul the meal it deserves!

What are a couple of things on your bucket list? I’d love to see what cool things interest you as well!
