I‘ve always preferred shorts nails. Because I’m constantly typing on the computer and using my hands, my nails have always been prone to breakage. I love the look of almond nails and have only been able to get the look by applying acrylic nails at the nail salon … up until recently.

With the proper nail care, I’ve been able to shape my natural nails into the almond shape and best of all, keep them strong, even and healthy.

I’ve been wearing more natural colors, and found this gorgeous soft shade by Nichole by OPI called “Kim-Pletely In Love” from the Kardashian collection.

You need a few tools to keep your nails healthy and strong to achieve the almond shape with your natural nails. You need a nail strengthener to keep your nails strong, a hard emery board to get a great shape, cuticle oil, a nail buffer, and a great fast drying top coat.

Here’s what I use below.

The key to this almond shape is to gradually file and shape your nails as they begin to grow out. The rest is just maintenance and keeping them even. As far as the polish, I had to use three coats to get a little more of an opaque look otherwise it’s a bit sheer.

Totally in love with this shape and color! It even has a little subtle glitter in it. Definitely a must have!
