3 Tips To Bring Your Crib To Life
I’m a maximalist. Period. What I love and appreciate about maximalism is the expression of personality through decor and style. But in this post, I want to focus on maximalism when it comes to home decor.
This past year, minimalism was very much in and trending. One of the attractions to this type of aesthetic is that a clean and clear space can make people feel at ease, tranquil, and at peace. But oftentimes a palette of whites and grays take away from the story of who you are and where your interests lie. It’s pretty and nice, but when I walk in someone’s home, I want my eyes to wonder the walls, tables, and floors to allow me to explore new things about the home owner and their taste, travels, and heirlooms that help tell a story about who they are at their core.
“Maximalism is a design style rooted in a more-is-more philosophy that will often blend an eclectic mix of patterns, colors, textures, and objects. It leans into big and bold decision making when it comes to color, pattern, texture, shape and form.“
Let’s dive into a few interiors that really speak out loud and tell a story, shall we?

This is just a glimpse into the many ways you express yourself through maximalism. If you’re a newbie to the style and want to explore how you can incorporate this look around your home, start with these tips:
Tip 1: Opt for very large and abstract art! Art is personal, so whatever calls you, go for it. Art has the ability to transform even the most basic of rooms.
Tip 2: Select interesting objects like sculptures, unique lighting and lamps, and cool trinkets that you’ve collected from your travels. Have fun with textures like marble, concrete, wood, and brass. Don’t feel like you have to be safe here. Oftentimes the “weirder” or “uglier” makes the room even more interesting!
Tip 3: Mix and match patterns and fabrics. In my opinion, there are no rules when it comes to your own design style. So mix the leopard and checked patterned chairs around the table or living room and tie it all together with those cool objects you picked out in a similar or complimenting color scheme.
At the end of the day, just HAVE FUN! Let me know what you think about this style. Who’s vibe are you feeling most?
